This course provides an overview of decision support systems and how they are implemented in the modern health care environment. The theory is given for decision support systems, expert (knowledge based) systems (e.g. Based on fuzzy neural network algorithms) and intelligent agents. Thereby it serves as addition for the course "Medical statistics and epidemiology".

Further topics

  • Evidence theory
  • Bayes networks
  • Knowledge based systems

Upon completion of this course the student should be able to

  • Understand the underlying technologies with respective limitations
  • Judge the relevance of decision support systems for routine use in health care
  • Provide an overview on existing products
