This courses introduces in the basics of evidence based medicine and total managed care. It explains the need of quality management and metrics and means of quality control and shows how results from clinical research can be turned to practical use. Risk classification and prediction of morbidity and mortality of patients are vital prerequisites to fully manage patient care economically successfully.
Existing experiences from big providers are mentioned as well as risks and chances of the trend to evidence based medicine and managed care. In this term this course is the health care equivalent of the course "Business intelligence and knowledge systems".
