Seminar FAQ

Dozent hält ein Präsenz-Seminar

Here you will find an overview of questions that we are frequently asked about our seminars. The following answers may be helpful to you.

Organisational matters

Will I receive a certificate of attendance for participating in the seminar?

You will receive a certificate of attendance for participating in all of our seminars. This will be sent to you by email after the seminar.

How long do the online seminars last?

The online seminars start at 9 a.m., just like the face-to-face seminars, and end at around 5 p.m. The speakers are usually available for longer, including to answer individual questions.

For online seminars, we ask that you log in 15 minutes early so that we can test the technology.

As with the in-person seminars, we take regular breaks.

Can I participate with several people on one computer?

In order to address individuals individually and to have flexibility in assigning groups, we prefer that each participant logs in with their own computer.

How many people can participate in an online seminar?

As with the face-to-face seminars, we are limiting the number of participants to 16. This allows us to ensure that

  • each participant can ask their specific questions and receive answer
  • the exercises are supervised just as intensively as in face-to-face seminars, and
  • targeted discussions within the group are possible.
How do you get the participants to interact with each other?

As with a face-to-face seminar, all participants know who is present and who is asking which questions. This means that everyone can respond to everyone else. The speakers do not block the participants' microphones.

In addition, we leave the web conferencing platform open during the breaks to enable discussion even without the participation of the speaker.

Should we turn the camera on or off?

We kindly ask you to keep your camera on during the online seminars.

There are several reasons for this:

  • It makes the event more lively.
  • You follow the seminar more attentively.
  • Our lecturers will not be sitting in front of a black screen all day.
  • Our lecturers will be able to respond to questioning faces and enjoy seeing smiling faces.
  • We create a seminar atmosphere in which you can also interact with other seminar participants. This creates a more enjoyable atmosphere and a sense of togetherness, not only for yourself but also for others.
  • The day will also be more entertaining for you when you see other people.

In addition, you can signal that you are present or absent by turning your camera on or off. When the camera is off, everyone knows that you are not available at the moment and will not wait in vain for your response. However, this also means that you will be less integrated into the seminar.

Can education vouchers be used for the seminars?

As we do not have AZAV certification, we cannot accept education vouchers/AVGS.

Notes on the procedure

Preparation

We will send you the access data (usually in the form of a link) at the latest one day in advance. You can then check the technology yourself.

Check-in

Please log in online at least 15 minutes before the seminar begins so that you can check your connection and technology (audio, video) again.

Our lecturers will then also have the opportunity to welcome you personally and give you some final tips on using the web conferencing tool.

Times and breaks

Seminars usually start promptly at 9 a.m. The end of the seminar is usually scheduled for around 5 p.m.

We take a break approximately every 90 minutes. The morning and afternoon breaks last 15 minutes. The duration of the lunch break is agreed with the lecturers. It is usually 45 to 60 minutes.

Interaction

Feel free to actively participate. Ask questions and express your expectations.

Your lecturer will coordinate with the group on how you can make yourself heard during the seminar (e.g. by raising your hand, switching on your microphone, asking questions directly, using the chat function).
