Description

This course introduces the various international health care systems and discusses the efficiency, medical outcome and impacts on society. A focus is put on the reimbursement politics and investigates the various roles of primary/secondary care providers, public/private insurances and national health care plans and programs.
Furthermore it will be discussed the role of the government, the responsibilities of patients, access restriction to health care programs, lobbying, and the role of pharmaceutical companies in the different countries.

Targets

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to

  • Explain the major differences of health care systems in various countries
  • Describe the root causes of different efficiency and medical outcome of these systems
  • Know the current political discussion and main opinion leaders
