Description
While the course "Business intelligence and knowledge systems" covers general aspects of data mining this lecture focuses purely on techniques to analyze medical data. Relevant statistics (correlation, regression, co-variance, hazard analysis, parametric and non-parametric tests, ...) will be taught and an introduction into the respective tools is given.

Target
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to
- Select and apply the relevant tests to answer epidemiological questions
- Assess commercially available and open-source tools
- Understand the statistical relevance of data
- Setup a clinical trail (determine number of patients and clinics)
