Scope of this course is to provide an overview on the architectures of applications and on the means of integrating them. Despite the high technical focus of this course also calculations of operational costs, leverage potential of system integration, outsourcing and migration strategies will be discussed.

Upon completion of this course the student should be able to

- Explain how applications can be scaled and mention examples of huge enterprise applications
- Describe the different strategies of integration and related products and technologies (MQSeries, SAP-??, CORBA)
- Propose how to standardize heterogeneous IT systems
- Assess the ROI of an integration and outsourcing project
- Understand, diffentiate and apply SOA, BPEL, web services
